Everybody loves receiving compliments, but only a few people actually give compliments for others. Compliments are great ice breakers and conversation starters, and they also give people a lift and raises the self-esteem of who is making the compliment, since this person becomes more confident. Due to all these characteristics, compliments are not only something to make people happy and generate interaction, but also are great to break shyness.
Don’t stay still waiting to receive a sincere compliment, give one out! The more you give, the more you will receive.
If you are not used to compliment a lot, there is no problem about it. I will teach you how to give a compliment and possibly receive another one in return.
Make your compliment especific. The more specific the better, it makes the person feel like you notice them. “Your earrings look great on you” is much better than “you look good today”.
Back up your compliment. When you describe the reason you think in a certain way, your compliment becomes stronger. Don’t just say “your earrings look great on you”, go for “your earrings look great on you because they matches your eyes”.
Ask a question. This is great to start a conversation, just ask a question on the subject of the compliment. Try “your earrings look great on you because they matches your eyes. Where did you find it?”.
A sincere compliment is always a good way to boost someone’s day. Try it!
