Global Warming

In last few year world had witnessed the rise in average earth of temperature, which has caused climate change and greenhouse effect. Gases like carbon dioxide, nitrous oxide and methane are the main causes of greenhouse effect. These gases trap heat in the atmosphere of earth and increase the temperature of earth. The global warming can cause many irreversible changes in the ecosystem and the behavior of animals.

The world’s rate of carbon dioxide emission has gone by 30 percent since industrialization began in the eighteenth century and surface of the seas has risen at least by 10cms. However, the lion’s share of climate damage is done by burning coal and oil. Carbon dioxide emission from cars, planes and factories are changing the climate all over the globe.

According to study and research by UK scientists, it was concluded that the overall temperature will rise annually by around 4 degrees Celsius unite the year 2060 and the surface of the world’s ocean will rise by around 20cms while the carbon dioxide will double.

Studies reveal that it is cheaper to reduce the use substances causing green house gases than undo the damage caused by them. The effect of possible collapse of the world is more than severe. Environment officials, legislators and scientists from more than 30 Asia-Pacific countries have blamed developed nations for this climate change and have urged to speed up reduction targets against green house gas emission.

The predicted long periods of drought will leave lasting marks on agriculture. Some 10 million people are now dying every year due to malnutrition and the figure will increase many times over if the carbon dioxide emission doubles. Global warming offers an ideal condition of epidemics, malaria and cholera could spread in the US, Australia and Central Europe. According to surveys, it has been found that many marine species also get affected due to the rise in temperature.

Governments of all the countries are trying to cut the emissions of greenhouse gases. Variety of measures has been taken to limit the greenhouse gas emission. In 2009, at Copenhagen summit, the developed country has decided to reduce the carbon emission by 10-20 percent within 2020.

Wood is Good But Trees are Better

Tree is the best panacea for the survival of the society.” Trees play a very significant role in the survival of the society. From top to root, importance of trees cannot be described with a single pen. We use timber in office, railways, houses, schools, toys, medicine, clothes and paper, etc. Its multiple uses can never be denied. A tree in all its forms has been a friend of mankind since times immemorial.

At times it has aided mankind by imprinting upon itself tales of bygone era by taking the form of a fossil, etc. It cannot be denied that all these usage comes into being only after the tree has been chopped down and stripped of its branches. Few would believe in the statement that a living tree is of much greater value than a dead tree. This is true. Plant and human developed together in the nature. The both are interdependent. The waste of one is the food of the other.

Trees keep our environment free from pollution and provide the best remedy for and many contagious diseases. Cutting of trees has added a lot of environment degradations. In many areas, we fail to hear about the rainfall. Consequently, these are in the state of utter drought. Crops fail; people and animals die for want of starvation and food. Soil erosion becomes too acute to revoke side by side many rare species also extinct from the other whose importance can never be denied, trees supply oxygen to the atmosphere. The green leaves produce starch- as essential part of food. They provide us cool and fresh air, and thereby we remain hale and healthy. Aesthetically they bring beauty and color to life. Indirectly, they are instruments in developing the arts and culture of this world. Their gradual destruction is slowly taking the life away from earth. Nature is falling sick in their absence.

In the coming era, pollution and global warming has endangered our lives. Therefore, it would be in man’s own interest to protect the plants and trees.

Growing Green Kids

The Internet is a wonderful place and a powerful tool for today’s society to teach children about the environment. There is no doubt that early influences can spark a lifetime of concern and participation throughout that person’s life. In today’s schools and youth organizations, there are programs dealing with recycling, environmental health, litter and other ecological programs. Younger children and arts classes make use of free materials that were formally considered waste. Schools, day care centers, kindergarten, preschool classes and other children related facilities often accept items that they can turn into craft projects for the kids.

For instance, old rolls of gift wrapping paper or wallpaper can be donated for children to use as drawing or craft paper. Boxes, paper bags, buttons, greeting cards, wrapping and ribbons, tiles and many other items can be used for art and craft supplies. To find out what they might be looking for, simply give the overseer, teacher or caregiver a call.

Egg cartons make for excellent craft supplies and can be turned into all kinds of things crafts for youth including creating a wide array of bugs that are native to your area and at the same time turning the afternoon into an educational lesson in ecology and the environment. Craft paper, or scrap paper from your office recycling bin can also be of use to youth groups as they can use the paper’s clean side for drawing. Speaking of paper, newspapers cannot consume the newsprint rolls on their machines right to the end of the roll – as such they always have partial rolls of newsprint. These long strips of paper are a fantastic resource. Magazines, even torn ones, can be used in crafts as well.

The best thing to do is call up your local school, daycare center, recreation center or youth groups to find out what they might be interested in receiving. Once you are armed with that information, it is easier to sort out and store your “donations” in boxes or bags until you can make the trip to drop them off.

Go Green The Easy Way – part 3

The mantra of going green is reduce, reuse and recycle. It can be quite easy to do for most people, it just takes a little readjustment in your thinking and in your actions.

This three step process can be started today, right now. In our two previous articles we covered reducing and reusing, and now it’s time to talk about recycling.

Recycle

Some thing you need to use can’t be re-used, such as cans from your groceries, but you can still lessen the impact on the environment by recycling them instead of throwing them away — and clogging up the land fills.

Almost every community in developed contries have some sort of recycling program for their resident. Check the pick up day in your town, and you’ll just have to separate your recyclabe trash before throwing away and take it to the curb on trash day. It’s that easy.

Just a little bit of thought and a little bit of extra effort on your part can make all the difference in the world.

Go Green The Easy Way – part 2

In the original article “Go Green the Easy Way” I told you what are the first steps to go green (reuse, reduce and recycle), and teached a little about reusing. Right now I’m gonna tell you about the seconds steps to go green easily: reuse.

Reuse

To reuse is very easy, atough we’ve got a little spoiled in the last 20 years. We are addicted to the bad habit of buying disposable… everything.

Almost every item have a disposable alternative, try to make a test: think for one minute about five itens that doesn’t have disposable alternatives. It seems everything has been made to be thrown away.

We have disposable pens, disposable razors, disposable cigarette lighters, disposable bottles, disposable diapers, etc. The list could go on and on. The point is that we might not realize that this way of thinking isn’t good for our environment and it’s also expensive.

It may seem like nothing to spend a few dollars for a throw away cigarette lighter, and to buy a good one is expensive. But add up the ‘cheap’ lighter over the number you’d use in a year and the number of years you’ll use one and you’ll quickly see that that ‘cheap’ disposable lighter is not only bad for the environment it’s bad for your bottom line!

So starting today, make it your mission to stop throwing things away and start reusing them whenever possible. If it’s not possible at least recycle them — you’ll learn about it in the next article. This way you can be going green and saving green at the same time.

Go Green The Easy Way

As Kermit the Frog says, “It’s not easy being green”. But I have excellent news for you if you really want to go green and hope you can confront Kermit the Frog. In only 3 steps you can go green and what I’ll teach you can also save you hundreds or thousands of dollars along with saving the planet.

There are many things you can do now to be more environmentally responsable, and most of them cost nothing or very little but can pay off really big lowering your consumption on fuel and energy.

The 3 steps are reduce, reuse and recycle.

Reduce

Don’t be wastefull: this is the concept. Most of us were raised not to be wasteful, but day after day it seems we’ve forgotten our childhood lessons as we got older.

You can reduce wasting by doing simple things, such as buying reusable dishwater safe bottle for your water instead of regular water bottles. When you go for grocery shopping, use reusable bags instead of disposable ones.

Try not to drive as much, combine errands whenever possible. Plan out your route so you don’t have to do a lot of backtracking. If you are not good with maps, you can plan your route using a GPS navigator.

Be sure that you aren’t using more fuel than necessary to heat and cool your house. Regulary check if your furnace filters are clean and add insulation.

Of course by reading this some other ideas came to your mind, so I encourage you to share them and take action!

In the next two articles I’ll teach you how to reuse and recycle.
