There are many techniques available to you to help you towards the successful life you desire. Setting and working towards goals, using positive affirmations and visualization, and ensuring you define your true purpose are good examples.

All of them are important, but not on their own. They are part of a framework that you must be able to assemble in order to reach the success you desire for yourself. It’s something that is fundamental to your personal development and key to being the person you want to be.

So how do you build a framework for success? Here are seven steps to help you:

#1 Know What You Want

This is the point at which you must begin. Any journey needs a destination and you must know where you want to go in order to plan how to get there. For each part of your life – finance, career, health and fitness, relationships, contribution, and interests and hobbies – you must be clear about what you want.

#2 Set Goals

Once you know exactly what you want in each area, set goals to achieve it. Define the ultimate long-term goal and set a realistic time-frame for its attainment. Write each goal out in precise detail.

#3 Make An Action Plan

Look at each goal and plan how you will achieve it. Write down exactly what you will have to do in order to be successful. Be sure they are positive steps, even if they mean doing what is necessary to eliminate any negative aspects from your life. Try to anticipate any potential obstacles.

#4 Define Projects and Tasks

You will have goals of varying sizes and complexity – some will be simple one step solutions but most will have several parts. So break your action plan down into manageable tasks or projects so that within each long-term goal, you have a number of smaller ones.

#5 Get What You Need

To ensure you achieve all of your goals you will need to have the right resources. That may be things you will need to buy, training courses you need to go on, or people whose help and advice you require. Define what they are, when you will need them, and how you will go about getting them. This is very important – don’t take short-cuts or believe that you can do it all on your own.

#6 Manage Your Time

Time is also a vital resource, in fact without it none of the above is really any use at all. So be realistic about what time you have available to do what is required. Assess what you do with your time now and put together a plan of how many hours each day, each week and each month you can dedicate to achieving your goals. Plan out your days and allocate blocks of time to doing the things you have identified as necessary to your success. Take it seriously because if you cannot find the time then maybe the goals you’re working on are not actually worthwhile at all. If you find this to be the case then you need to go back to step one and be sure you know what you really want.

#7 Create Good Habits

If you truly know what you want and know what you need to achieve it then you must take action consistently and persistently. You must make it a habit to work on your goals, to plan your time effectively, and to work your plan. Be sure too that you also regularly review what you are doing and ensure that you are still on track to your desired outcome and that it is still what you want.

So start today on building your framework and take a step nearer to getting what you want. But remember that your circumstances can change and the things you want today may alter in the future. So be sure not to do this as a one-off exercise but something that you take the time to re-visit often to be sure you’re heading in the right direction.

If you have some resolutions for the a new part of your life or if you set some goals for yourself or your business, here are some ways to keep yourself on track and focused.

1. Less is more. Have 3 or 4 resolutions at the most. Any more than this will make them hard to focus on. If the resolutions you have can be achieved in less than a year, create others once you have accomplished these.

2.	Visualize success. Know what accomplishing your resolution(s) will do for you. Day dream about it. How does it look and feel? Reaching your dream only happens if you are motivated enough to stick with it. If you don’t keep thinking about how much you want it and how good you will feel once you either accomplish it or make it a habit (or get rid of a habit!), you will lose interest.

3.	Write them down. Here is another way to stay focused on your resolutions. There is something more permanent about the written page than just having it in your head. Sometimes just the act of writing it down is enough to keep you on track and focused.

4.	Tell someone. Have a friend, a mentor, or a coach hold you accountable. Once you tell someone else it is just downright embarrassing to admit you didn’t stick with it. Sometimes we know that is the only way we’ll get it done. Some people are motivated completely by the positive aspect of getting it done and others need the fear of the consequences of not accomplishing it. Both can help you.

5.	Post them. Put a copy of your resolution(s) where you see it/them frequently. Just seeing the list will continually remind you of what you are trying to do. Where can you put the list so you see it continually? How about the bathroom mirror or the refrigerator door?!

6.	Read them. Say them out loud at least once a day. Make a little ritual of this. Do it at the same time every day. This would be a good time to visualize your success too (2). The more you think about your resolutions the more in focus they become.

7.	Take action. Ask yourself at the beginning of the day what one action can you take today to keep you making progress on your resolution(s)? Moving forward one step at a time is what you are after.

8.	Hire an expert. An expert can help you to overcome blocks, improve the way you are approaching the tasks or just boost your spirits. Depending on your resolution an expert might be a coach, a personal trainer, a nutritionist, or an organizer.

9.	Use affirmations. Create a positive statement that you can use when the voice in your head tells you that you are not going to achieve whatever you are striving for. When you become aware that the voice is telling you can’t do it, substitute your affirmation.

10.	Reward yourself. Give yourself something special when you cross a milestone or survive a particularly difficult period in your journey to achieving your resolution. Celebrate successes along the way and feel good about what you have done.Similar Posts:

The best cure for fear is action. If you do not believe me, I am gonna show you an example.

If you speak in public some times, have you already noticed that the hardest time of public speaking is just waiting for your turn to speak?

Even actors, public people and professional speakers experience this feeling but, once they start speaking, fear disappears.

It happens because the human being is afraid of the unknown. We do not know what the reactions will the audience have, and it makes us afraid. Once we notice there is nothing to fear, we become confident and can go on without fear.

Taking action is not difficult. If you can take action for the first time, you can do it again and again.

After you start anything, build confidence and kill your fear. Things will be much easier.Similar Posts:

Have you ever visited a life coach to get help on improving your life, get things done and get over your issues, but in the end you only found more issues to solve?

If it happened to you, your coach probably suggested you attended to more coaching sessions. And if you were lucky, your coach could have offered you a discounted package.

The truth on this case is that you became a money making machine – for your coach. And the time you are using to attend to life coaching sessions is the time you could be using to get things done.

Remember the reason you went to a life coach, and it probably was to have a better life. The less time you spend at your life coach’s office, the better. It is like going to a doctor.

Take action! Do not let your issues be bigger than you are. You can take care of them if you want, but always take action in direction of your goals.Similar Posts:

Miracles are your responsibility! What does that mean? Simple…You have a responsibility to create miracles in your own life. The responsibility lies on your shoulders. You can’t blame anyone else, and you can’t look outside of yourself for someone else to create the miracles for you. In this article, I’m going to break down the word “Miracle”, because each of you have a responsibility. As you know, my Why is to impact others and change the world one heart at a time. As you read this today, my goal is for you to take responsibility and realize that you have the innate ability to create miracles. So let’s get started!

The letter “M” means Momentum, which is created by you. You must create Momentum in your life for yourself, for your Why, for your family, for your success, for your finances, for your health…YOU create Momentum! No one else will do it for you. You aren’t a surfer waiting for the next wave to come in. You and only you must create your own Momentum to drive you toward creating your Miracle!

The letter “I” stands for Incentive. You must have something inciting you to action…your ultimate “Why”. Why are you doing what you are doing? Why do you want to begin that business? An Incentive builds the foundation that keeps you focused on your Miracle. No doubt about it! But again, it is your responsibility to determine what your incentive is and how it will drive you toward your Miracle.

The letter “R” stands for Revelation. As you read this today, get a Revelation! It’s your responsibility…no one else’s. It doesn’t matter who you are, where you came from, how much money you have…get a Revelation. YOU can and will create Miracles!

The letter “A” stands for Action. I know you’ve heard this before, but read this today, print it out and decide that you are going to take Action to create Miracles. Once again, no one will do it for you! Take the Action that you know that you need to take to create your Miracle.

The letter “C” stands for Commitment. Finally…once and for all…dive right into it…get Committed to your Miracle! It’s your responsibility. Inside you is a reason for why you are here…your Miracle…so Commit to it. Go for it!

The letter “L” stands for Love. You must Love what you do. You must Love the Miracle that you are focused on creating. If your Miracle is all about money…you will fail! Your Miracle cannot be based on money. Your Miracle must be based on what you can do to impact the world, which will produce everlasting results. You will produce true Miracles! Don’t let anyone else tell you what you must do for money. Love what you do and create your own Miracles.

The letter “E” stands for Energy. Your gonna need Energy to create your Miracle. There’s no such thing as it “falling in your lap”, “luck” or “winning the lotto” in a success mindset. It takes hard work! You need the Energy to take those daily action steps to create your Miracle. Again, it is your responsibility to maintain your Energy to create your Miracle. Miracle…It’s your responsibility.

As I say,

You must be absolutely clear about your goal and be relentless in your pursuit of Your “WHY!”Similar Posts:

There is no key, no mantra to have a successful life. There are just few simple steps that lead to a successful and happy life.

Honesty

“Honesty is the best policy”

Honesty is necessary for real happiness. Dishonesty sometimes may bring wealth and influence, but it can never make a person happy. At no point in his lifewilla dishonest person be able to free himself from the consequences of his actions. Fear of being caught and punished for his dishonest acts haunts him, and he is never totally free from it. Hence he will never be truly happy and content.

.

Self discipline

“With self-discipline most anything is possible.” – Theodore Roosevelt

Self discipline has great significance in our life. It can be described as a quality that makes a person conduct his life in an orderly and successful manner. We should adopt it naturally from the very beginning so that we may choose and develop a way to lead a successful and happy life. It is the discipline which guarantees progress, prosperity and success. Self discipline is the key to all progress and promotion.

.

Health

“If you have health, you probably will be happy, and if you have health and happiness, you have all the wealth you need, even if it is not all you want.” -Elbert Hubbard

A healthy mind and body are also an essential prerequisite for happiness. A sick man can never hope to be happy. His diseases will take away from him, the enjoyment if sight, sound, taste and touch. Haunted by fears regarding his health, such people fear life. They took at it as a burden. A proper diet and a tension free existence can definitely make a man healthy and happy.

.

Action

“Life is action not contemplation”

Above all the most important thing that a person should do to make his life better is ‘Action’. A wise person said ‘Life is action not contemplation’. It says that thoughts alone are not enough to change the realities of our world. It is action that paves the way for development and enrichment of the life. To say that all great humans of the world were contemplators or workers would be wrong. They were a little of both. They did not hesitate to accept the challenges that came their way, neither did they feel ashamed to dream an impossible dream. They were the one who dared to make castles in the air and create these castles, in reality.Similar Posts:

Today’s business world seems to have what I call an intense action bias. This is the ever increasing need to take action. I am not sure if this is partly because of the current business school training or inherent to our culture. I liken the action bias to the investment bias. That is the need for people to find a place to put there money many times to their detriment.

The action bias is many times like the investment bias, meaning wrong. There are many instances where the action bias is incorrect; meaning the best thing to do is nothing.

I believe there is a form in narcissism in the action bias. The thought that I know what to do or I can fix it. While I applaud the spirit of trying, there are many instances where we can not impact the situation. Does taking action and trying harder cause better results in a grossly overbuilt real estate market, or does it waste precious resources in a traction less market. Accelerated action may simply accelerate losses when waiting is the thing to do. Should marketing dollars be spent to generate buyers who don’t want to pay the prices you want. Maybe inaction is a better strategy.

Yet, we are an impatient lot; we “need” to be doing something. Doing feels better than waiting, yet what’s done can rarely be undone, but what’s undone is still an option for the future. If the actions are not well thought out and backed by the appropriate set of facts and attached to the right strategy, you may as well not take it.

This is obviously a strategic question for people and their businesses. We are not talking about whether or not to pick up the phone when it rings or unlock the front door of the store at the start of the business day. We are discussing the big issues a business wrestles with like; launching a new product, implementing a new marketing campaign, terminating or starting new strategic relationships, going public or filing bankruptcy.

What does this discussion have to do with time management? Well, everything, because the action bias is a user of time and the opposite strategy of patience is a time saver. When you are taking action, you are using time. When you are waiting you have time, time that can be used for higher level thinking which needs to be done before taking action. Additionally in the heat of battle, thinking tends to shut down.

So think about the this issue the next time people are saying we need to do X. The appropriate response maybe, at some point that could be a good option, let’s wait and see.Similar Posts:

Ever hear the adage “knowledge is power?” Well, I don’t agree. While I do believe knowledge can and should be a source of power, the reality is that only knowledge APPLIED is powerful. It’s not what you know that counts, it’s what you do with what you know that really matters.

You and I live in the Information Age. There’s more information around today than there has ever been on any topic you can imagine. Not only is information available, it’s at our fingertips via the internet. The Web contains information you can use for improving every aspect of your life. I don’t know about you, but I have yet to stump Google or Yahoo.

With all this information available to us, you’d think we’d have life figured out by now. Ah, but such is not the case. Why? Because we’ve come to believe that learning and collecting information are one and the same. The reality, however, is that we must take what we’ve learned and translate it into meaningful actions. As I’ve said, it’s not what you know, it’s what you DO with what you know that really matters.

Doris Lessing, a novelist and playwright of the last century, once said, “What matters most is what we learn from living.” Life is a great teacher, if we do something with what we learn.

If you’re familiar with my six-step process for improving performance and productivity, you know that the last of the six steps is ACTION, or what I refer to as STRATEGIC DECISIONS.

While taking action is critical to being a person of success and achievement, I’m not talking about just doing something for the sake of doing it. I’m talking about doing those things that matter most – and doing them first! Here are some thoughts on taking action you might find helpful:

1. Develop the habit of being action oriented. Don’t think about finishing the project or getting the degree, finish the project and get the degree.

2. Get creative in figuring out fun or interesting ways to take on an important project. Make a game out of it or offer yourself a nice reward when the project’s finished.

3. Make a habit of breaking down projects into tasks that can be completed in a relatively short period of time. Our attention spans aren’t very long – sad but true, so deal with it and break the task down into doable 15-20 minute segments.

4. Use worst case scenario thinking to stimulate action. You’ll end up there anyway if you don’t get the project finished or earn the degree.

5. Do the hard stuff first. Once you get that out of the sway, you’re on the downhill slide.

6. Use momentum to your advantage. Once you get going on a task, stick with it until it’s finished.

Remember, it’s not what you know that matters, it’s what you DO with what you know that really counts. Success and achievement are about DOING, not DREAMING.
